It has just been updated to Version: 1703.This update removed the original Windows 10 Defender interface and installed a new 'Windows Defender Security Center.' On my computer, the Windows Defender Security Center provides 5 applications, but neither of these contains the means for performing (invoking) a Windows 10 Defender manual Full, Quick, and Custom scans.Note: 'Kaspersky Total Security' software program installed.Question:Via the new Windows Defender Security Center, how does one perform a manual full scan against the complete computer - Where is the manual scanning application located within the new Windows 10 Defender software?Thank you for the help and assistance - Much appreciated.

There’s always a chance that the issue might be limited toAvast, or maybe to a specific group of third-party AV apps, but we probably won’t be able to sort it here unless we see a sudden upswing in the volume of helpful feedback. So I’ll wait and see what happens with theFall Creators Update, and then file some reports with theFeedback Hub for any of the following issues that aren’t resolved:The scanning issues that I’ve identified so far on this machine, which is running theCreators Edition with Avast Free installed, are these:1.) As with the Anniversary Edition, theAutomatic Maintenance S can only runs intermittently under theSystem account. I believe this is a general issue.2.) A user-scheduledscan will not run under the System account. The status of this issue is unknown.3.) The Windows Defender Offline S can will not run. This issue appears to affect both PCs that are running Defender in a standalone configuration and PCs that are running Defender in theon-demand mode – but the incidence is unknown.4.) The present issue with the Context Menu S can.Edit for correction The present issue actually turns out to be that the Windows DefenderContext Menu Scan is missing on this installation. When I checked the registry, I found that my “Scan with Windows Defender”Context Menu Scan was actually just the MpCmdRun.exe Scancommand line inserted at HKEYCLASSESROOT.shell by the old Windows Defender Status Managerapp, which just runs a command line scan.

I finally uninstalled this great little app in order to avoid any further confusion – but a partingtip-of-the-hat to: Even in the Creators Edition, your little app was the only thing that would give me the warning when theWindows Defender Service failed to start – and that failure immediately crashed the theWindows Defender Security Center. That happens every now and then on this installation, and it happens consistently on the reboot following a failedWindows Defender Offline scan.End EditBut I haven’t seen any indication of a serious conflict being caused by running a third-party AV app alongside Windows Defender in itsLimited Periodic Scanning mode – and I don’t think we really need to perpetuate the old idea that a conflict is inevitable. When it’s running in itsLimited Periodic Scanning mode, Windows Defender is running with its real-time protection disabled, and the likelihood of a conflict is no greater than with any of the various other third-partyon-demand AV apps that we recommended here every day.
